I noticed the officers smelled a "mild" odor of alcohol on him. If it was a normal citizen they would of written the report up as "heavy" odor. Taking the breathalyzer nearly 4 hours after the crash! That is unreal, it is usually around an hour after the time of arrest. Your BAC will peak in an hour after last drink and then decline at the rate of 1 drink per hour. He was over .08 at time of the crash.Sadly, I know this from personal experience (3 DUI's) and a family member who is a defense attorney. My heart goes out to the father. He deserves to see this 'cop' brought to justice.

That is pretty horrible. Hopefully the experts can get to the truth despite the police attempt to cover it up by delaying and not writing the typical boilerplate text they usually do.

Here is a slightly more heartening story: a cop who was caught driving drunk was actually given a ticket, and he writes to the other police taking responsibility, and asking them to stop harassing the two cops that gave him a ticket. This is how it should be, personal responsibility should trump tribalism.

The article said the jury will continue deliberating today. I just hope this case doesn't end with a hung jury.

I made the mistake of eating first and almost threw up! Why so much focus on being below the legal limit?!? That drives me nuts about DUI cases. Just because you're below the legal limit doesn't mean you're not too drunk to drive.

A parade of relatives, cops and former judges spoke out today in support of a Chicago police officer convicted of DUI in a hit-and-run crash that killed a boy riding a bike.
