Hello,

I am going on a bike trip to SE Asia (thailand for the most part) and want to get a pair of waterproof panniers. I am looking at getting these:http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FHHP

Does anyone have any experience with these or can they point me to any reviews? I can't find NOTHING out about them on the net. But after taking a look at their about us section on their website, I really like what they have to say and I want to give them a try (especially because I think they are really nice looking).

thanks,

jen

Hi, Jen-

I don't have those panniers, but I bought a giant duffle from them a number of years ago. I use it as a carry all for camping gear, etc. and it's still like new.

They're a great company that make quality products.

Have a fun trip.

I have used Ortlieb Backroller Classic panniers with great luck on bicycle and motorcycle tours. Those bags are 100% waterproof, I've filled them with ice and beer for beachfront rides and they don't leak at all.

The main disadvantage these types of waterproof panniers have is that they are just one big compartment. Things can get really disorganized that way, depending on how you like to pack your bags. Using plastic bags to segment your stuff inside the panniers helps a lot, and basically waterproofs everything anyway if your panniers are less than water tight.
