My wife and I got back last night from a week in Key Largo. I won't bore you with many details. However, we did rent some "cruiser" bikes for a day. The good folks down there are completing a bike path along US Hwy 1 that will run the entire length of the Keys, and were actively working on it while we were there. There were the usual signs threatening great monetary harm to speeders in work zones, so I thought, why not?

In theory, it could happen, right? What would it take to try getting legislators interested in the idea?

It's a pious thought.

Not sure how it's "pious". It seems reasonable to me that if road workers are vulnerable when out there amongst the cars, then bike riders are as well. Do cyclists somehow deserve less consideration than road workers?

Also, I'm surprised nobody else seems to have an opinion.
