Zdenek Jurasek, of the Czech Route 66 Association, is embarking on a (filmed) bike trip from Chicago to Los Angeles starting this Saturday, 8am, from Adams/Michigan. Route 66 is an attraction for many international tourists.
He invites any cyclist to join him for at least a couple of miles. He is scheduled to ride to Dwight on Saturday (an Amtrak town, to bring you and your bike back to Chicago; same for Joliet).
Zdenek's email is info@r66.cz, and he reports his trip can be tracked at https://goo.gl/nzkCQa (unconfirmed). An excerpt of his message:
---------------------------------------
Dear Route 66 friends!
Warm greetings on behalf of the Czech Route 66 Association.
I am proud to inform you about our association‘s great new project.
Our exclusive Czech Route 66 Solo Bicycle Ride Film Tour starts on 20th August and will last for a whole 33 days. We will be filming a new movie for TV channels in Central Europe to promote the Mother Road overseas.
The main theme will be the solo bicycle ride along Route 66 which I will repeat after 18 long years. Enclosed you will find the reasons why I decided to make this trip. There is also a short video with my comments (English subtitles): https://youtu.be/VAgTyEO2YcY
The result of our project will be not only a feature film but also a series of reports broadcast during the journey every two days by Czech TV Channel TVS. Here is a link for the pilot report: https://youtu.be/ckAlPJN-moY
A two-man film crew led by director Tomas Zindler will be filming my bike path. We will have the most modern film equipment that will help us achieve the best shots with high technical quality.
I will be very happy if you can join our bike ride at least for couple of miles. Cycling clubs in your region are also welcome. We intend the movie to be entertaining, full of great atmosphere and friendly mood. We will also be very grateful for any promotion of our project in local newspapers, television and other media.
