The Chainlink

Just saw this on a weather article posted yesterday. Don't know if parts of trail are still closed, but FYI:

The high winds forced lake water onto Lake Shore Drive at 1300 North in Chicago, according to the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

One northbound Lane of Lake Shore Drive was closed earlier Sunday due to standing water.  Streets and Sanitation, when necessary, has been using plow trucks to push water accumulations back off of the roadway, the department said.

Chicagoans who exercise along the lakefront are advised that the bicycle and jogging paths along the lake from Fullerton to Grand avenues have been temporarily closed due to slippery and dangerous conditions caused by freezing lake water that washed onto those paths, Streets and Sanitation said. In fact, people are advised to stay away from pedestrian underpasses along the lakefront due to the potential for pooling water driven by high winds.

Still closed as of today (south from North Ave beach to at least Oak street beach, maybe farther). The path in that area is covered in ice and the asphalt is torn up in places. There might be some epic potholes waiting for us for the ice is cleared away.
