The Chainlink

So I corked at the Critical Mass and was informed shortly after (Thanks to Ammo and Deadhex) that this pic had been posted of me by some wonderful soul...He called me a "cocktard" an interesting combination of cock and retard that only a trully gifted person could think of...Anyway...I'd appreciate any love you could throw my way on his comment board. I was the one in front of the two cars and he's telling me about people flipping me off and begging...I'm sure there could have been (somewhere else)but I was dealing with THESE peeps and it was fun...Oh well...Another sad bastard. get over yourself d00d, you were only one drop in a vast sea chock full of cocktards.

that said,
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!
Well it looks like your blocking traffic who has a green light, therefor disobeying traffic rules. I don't think this type of behavior is going to help close the gap of misunderstanding between cyclists and auto's. I think being called a cocktard is actually appropriate in this situation.
Jon, I hope you're being sarcastic, but judging by your last sentence, I'm guessing you're being serious. It's Crit Mass, dood. I think regular traffic rules are suspended during CM just like they are during a parade. You don't see cars cutting across parades, do you? That would be dangerous, si? So corking does not imply cocktardness. QED.
+1 to what Jon said.
We, as citizens, have the right to peaceably assemble.

Motorists that don't like it can fuck right off.
VXLA, everything you've ever said on here I've disagreed with so the plus one on your D&D dice is null and void, and you always come off as a shmuck - As for Jon I dunno ya yet but I hope i never have to ;-) Thanks Bart!! ;-) And Thanks Root! ;-)
I love the testosterone rumble here!

Thanks, I'm glad you've found a way to further rationalize your adolescent behavior. Perhaps this thread should just be deleted.

No, they're not suspended, they're just ignored. A parade has a permit to block the street, advance notice to the population, and police control of the intersections. At CM you do see bicyclists cutting through traffic, which yes, is dangerous.

This forum is actively moderated in a way that everyone agreed to when signing up. I think we've deleted ~ 2-3 threads in the past few months. My personal rule is that I do not moderate threads in which I post within.
Unless Critical Mass has a permit from the city then it's not a parade and the rules of the road aren't suspending. I know people think that critical mass is this great grassroots organization trying to save the city cyclist or what have you, but I really think at this point in time it's doing more harm than good.

Causing an annoyance like this isn't going to make drivers think "hold on a minute, perhaps they're on to something." When I've been held up by a critical mass ride, all I've thought was "I have somewhere to be, but these people having a big party think they're more important than traffic laws, and feel they don't have to obey them."

As for peacefully assembling. I'm all for it, it's one of our guaranteed rights. Peacefully assemble in a single file on the correct side of your lane and I believe you'll get a lot more respect from motorists.

I am both a cyclist in the city and a driver in the city.
