Had a couple casual rides in February but rode today to the Housewares Show at McCormick Place from Albany Park.  25mi round trip.  LFP is still tore up.   Huge patches of pavement missing, loose chunks of asphalt and lotsa sand by Belmont harbor and North ave. but the road crews were in attendance making progress.  Oh, also had head wind coming and going, go figure, but a good commute over all.  No complaints

Hey Dave,
Yes, we are doing the Haleakala dwnhill!! I am fired up. I think I am going to rent a bike for a few days. Love to get in some miles. And no winter gear!
I did my first lakefront path road ride today! I've been itching to all Winter, it felt great. The pavement problems south of North Ave. were a little troubling, but otherwise not bad.
The road crews did some great patching today on the torn up bits of the LFP just south of Fullerton. Now instead of 4- and 5-inch drops you have little ramps of asphalt leading you in and out of the deepest "holes." Huge improvement! Now you can ride that stretch w/o even slowing down.
I confirm the little ramps.  I rode them today on the way home.  It's a great temporary fix.  I hope they do the same to the other section south of that tomorrow.

Chalk another one up for Weather.com. I did a quick check on their radar this morning and decided to take the train in. Turned out to be the right decision, since it rained on and off during my commute.

Wonder what people did before they had on-demand access to detailed weather radar ;)

I'm skipping my ride later today. I'm absurdly concerned with being pummeled with cold rain as the forecast on weather.com says 100% chance of rain! (When is it ever 100% chance?)

I'm glad to hear that people are being lured out by the Spring thaw this week! Next year, try riding in the winter. If I did it, anyone probably can.
Screw the train, let's ride in the rain! It wasn't that bad. Light drizzle. I would have been PO'd if I would have taken the train. Got some rain gear – jacket, pants, fenders, rack, waterproof trunk bag. Nice 7 mile commute to work.
I'm with Eduardo on riding in the rain- it really wasn't all that bad this morning, light drizzle, not too cold and overall a decent 8 mile ride to my office. I hate rain pants, so I just put on some old pants to ride in and brought my work pants to change into when I arrived.

I always hate taking mass transit when its cold and wet out. Everyone is damp and the car is filled with humidity. I'd rather get my butt a little wet and breathe fresh air.
I did and it was just a little damp and not very chilly.
It was kind of like being in London in January.

Yes. Loved the tailwind on LFP.

BTW, nice patch work South of Fullerton, VERY rideable now.

This morning crews are working on areas between North Ave and Oak.

First time in weeks that I actually had a tailwind! Yay! Of course, I will be fighting it coming back home, but I can live with that. Maybe I'll take the path sometime this week and check it out as Lincoln is still littered with debris. Chilly today, but not too bad at all.
