Thanks for asking, Josh. I use a compact camera, because it is lighter and easier to wield around. I have a big SLR (singe lens reflex) camera, but it pales in comparison to the Canon S120 that I use for these shots and in my day job. Although it is not cheap, it does everything I need it to do except head-and-shoulder shots. This is the second compact Canon I have owned.

Josh,

I ride a recumbent trike with my butt a foot off the ground, so I do not dismount, but I do come to a stop on 95% of my shots. Because I am low to the ground, my bugs-eye-view is already unique. That gives me a greater advantage to photograph flowers and plants (my preferred subject) in the spring, summer and fall. Because the snow hems me in and keeps me from getting close to things I would like to take shots of, I shift and take what is available. Thanks again for asking, Josh.

Now it's all clear to me Gene. I'm reluctant to get off my bike in the dead of winter to shoot photos but you start out in what is a shooting position.  I'm going to keep my eye out for you on the LFP!

As of this morning, anything not salted should be assumed to be covered by a thin layer of ice.  Be careful out there.

Thank goodness for studded tires. LFT had a fair number of icy patches, especially north of Foster.

Did not ride.  Side streets covered in ice as are sidewalks.  Drivers sliding through intersections. Milwaukee looked okay if you can get there, but I am not sure about it outside of the travel lanes.

Clark St wasn't the usual gravel trail made of rock salt this morning. Was mostly able to cruise, but could see plenty of slick patches along the margins. Definitely a day for the back-brake-and-food-down method of stopping.
