All the more impressive!
Seriously. I hate being cold but I can take it for short periods better than other people can. I felt that CCM was pleasantly comfortable last Friday when I heard others grumbling about it. I was only wearing silk longs with cotton trousers on the bottom, Silk longs with a cotton long sleeve shirt and a thin wool mid layer over that and a rain shell over that. I have more layers than that I could wear but I felt it was comfortable as long as I was moving. It's been so warm lately that I've really yet to pull out everything from my closet arsenal to ride this year. I haven't even put on my carhardt bib lowers when outside clearing the few minor snow storms this year. Good gear makes the cold bearable even when I hate it. Working in construction I've worked a few winters outside on a cold-windy deck of a high-rise going up. Still hate being cold though!
But there is NO WAY I'd be able to keep warm in the 33-degree water without a dry suit! I'm not much of a water person though. I don't swim much and only snorkel occasionally when on vacation.
The wind out of the south today is pretty brutal but the weather is gorgeous!

Sol was shining coming an going, NICE. The SW breeze was a 20-25 mph header going in, warming on the home trip.

The sun was awesome today going south on LFP was tough. but made for a good workout.
Just rode home at 11pm in shorts! feels great.
I swim with the Open Water Chicago group from May to October. A hardcore group swims year round, and the rest of us think they're crazy. I haven't reached that point yet, but I used to think riding a bike in winter was crazy, and now I'm doing it, so who knows. By May, the water temps are usually in the 50s, so it's not too bad with a tri wetsuit only (no hood, gloves, or socks). It's a very friendly group, whether you come one time or regularly, so if any of you want to do more open water swimming, come on out!
Some of those winter swimmers are Chainlinkers too. I can't remember the name of one winter/swimmer right now, but we are CRAZY in Chicago!

2/26 The kid (almost 7) finally riding without training wheels. Whoa! (Sorry! Proud Momma-Moment!)
He had a hard time in the wind yesterday when he was riding on the sidewalk, instead of the empty parking lot.
It is very pleasant out today. The wind on Wells always reminds me that I slack off over the weekends.
