My roommate has a Halstead; they are a great bike and a joy to ride.

I have been trying to get back on the bike after being off of it for two months. The last few days I've been riding around the neighborhood.

Today my 'bike riding' existed solely of test riding a Civia Halsted at J.C. Lind. Man, what a great bike. Finally a cargobike that rides smoothly. I am sorely tempted.

Mix up your route? If you usually take Damen down to Elston or whatever try riding east to the Lakefront path or something.

Today I had an awesome commute because I took some time over the weekend to fix my rubbing rear fender, unstick my notchy headset, tighten my loose saddle (don't ask) and inflate my tires back up to 100 psi. It was like riding a new bike.

Oh and apparently it was Late 80's Red Schwinn day:

I have been getting complacent with this excellent, mild winter. The usual ride from Addison/Damen to the loop has gotten mundane.

Lately, I have switched it up and jogged in and out. It is giving me a little different perspective on the ride. I am not getting excited about the next ride.

I did.  Always do M-F.

Hey Sheriff, you closed the poles pretty early?  3 o'clock hour?  BTW I'm in to volunteer 3/3/2012.  Now kids where's that sign up sheet?  ; )

The afternoon light sprinkle actually felt kind of good!  The weather was perfect for someone who was dressed right.   It was the 3rd time I commuted the 25-mile r/t this February. Last year I didn't even get on the bike 'til March.  Spring is the time to make resolutions, so a new, easy one for me is more miles every month than last year!

Another great weather day for February.. Even with the light rain

Here is my work bike rack pic from today...

Anyone prepping for tomorrow? It sounds like we'll be getting a good sized snow storm. I've got some business in the loop tomorrow, so I'll just be taking the red line instead. It's been a good week of commuting - though the rain on my naked eyes last night stung a bit.

The morning commute was pretty nice- although I didn't see many other cyclists on Lincoln. I heard about a snowstorm coming in, I might catch the start of it on my commute home. I'll ride tomorrow depending on how windy/icy it is in the morning. As far as prepping for the weather, I have my bar mitts, balaclava, goggles and I usually just use a light jacket with layers and some warm boots, and I have semi-knobby hybrid tires on the bike so I should be set.

The commute downtown from Hyde Park was also beautiful this morning.  While the southern half of the LFP is typically near-deserted, today it was seemingly flush with cyclists (and runners).

I gotta say, I love the snow, and am looking forward to the ride home and the ride tomorrow.

Melanie, you totally seem set for whatever comes our way.  I've been using the Bar Mitts this winter as well, but feeling kind of guilty since it hasn't really been all that cold.  Still, I've now gotten used to having really toasty hands.

I'm about to.
