Chicago Public Schools are closed tomorrow. That's a big deal--they always want to keep the schools open for kids who might not have a place to be during the day. Please be safe out there--get off your bike and walk if you need to.
Just made it home from the loop (55 min) to Logan Square, a very hairy ride due to the wind. Be careful out there and try to ride in groups for visibility.

A few pics from the ride home ^_^

Same here!

I hope the blizzard will turn blizzardy enough tonight to justify my CTA ride to work! :)

What's the headlight on your helmet?

Brinkman, you can get them in a three pack for 10.99 at home depot.

Just arrived home from work - a very slow, very slippery, and very challenging (but satisfying!) ride home.  Even the main roads with bike lanes that I traveled along (Armitage and Damen) were testing my wipeout-avoidance skills.  The wind definitely likes to have its way with you, too.  For the most part, though, everyone was being pretty civilized out there.  Even though I was trudging along at a snail's pace, I was still going faster than everyone stuck in traffic!!

The only real reason I like winter is because of days like these!  No wussy flurries please...gimme all or nothing!!  2 feet of snow?  Make it 20!!  The crazier it is out there the better!  Everyone get out your sleds...the hill is begging for some action!

I hope everyone gets where they need to be soon.  My short commute was bad enough at 3:30pm, I can only imagine what its going to be like a few hours from now.  I'll be sending out some serious snow day vibes for everyone tomorrow!!

Great pics pics, Rico! Here is Miguel before the trailer flaps went down and we rode home from day care. He is saying, "Happy Winter!"
i have not but looking forward to it tonight!......and this is called a blizzard!
I rode downtown, will see how far North I can get.  Remember a couple of years ago when the snow ran that jet off the end of the runway at Midway and it smashed into traffic?  I was out in it that night and that's when my wife instituted the Five Inch Rule...
Awesome ride home. Damen was like a zoo: Full of monkeys in cages and covered in shit! ;-)
I took Halsted, too.  I did some riding, some walking.  It was treacherous.  My normally 45 min commute took 2 hours.  Glad to be home safe!
