I am just curious about how much bicycles really slow traffic down? Do they really? I am always getting some jerk yelling at me on how I should buy a car or get off the road. I admit that most times I do ride in the car lane. I do do this for my own safety. Every time I have been hit I was riding quietly on the side of the road or in the bike lane. I figure if I am out in the middle no one can miss me. I do move to the side to allow cars to pass, but get right back in the lane as they pass. On my way home from work I did notice that I constantly have to slow down for cars getting in my way and swerving into bike lanes. I really don't think I ever slow anyone down. Once again just curious on everone elses stories and oppinions.

Hmmm. Please post a name placard on your backside so the next time I'm in my car and happen across you, I won't disappoint you by the arrogant, angry, impatient and threatening manner in which I allow you a wide berth. I'm sure you follow all traffic rules, right?

Once upon a time when he was riding for Saturn, Robbie Ventura ended up the in car I was riding in on the way north up to the Harmon Hundred. I can't say any of us were angry or impatient.

As Dug said, talk about an ignorant generalization.

Jody said:
people who drive cars are just angry impatient people in general; if they're not honking at you, they're honking at other drivers.
Not as much as they delay me.
Daniel, you may be more of a dickish rider. When I would grab on to cars for extra speed and bob in and out of traffic (which I still do on occasion - GUILTY PLEASURE) I received a lot of angry comments. I have recently calmed my riding down and have noticed very few comments on anything but my Monkey Electric lights.

Not to hate on dickish riding. Good on you. Lot o' fun!
