I've actually been following the site for a while now, since I moved to Chicago and started commuting by bike last fall (then dropped off for a while when it got really cold, but have been going continuously for the past month).  I enjoy the news and debates, some of which have really made me revisit my philosophy of cycling, consider how to ride safely, etc.  I decided to join once I started paying attention to the events and thought it might be fun to show up and meet some people.  

Also, the shout-out in "The Atlantic" gave it some major street cred...

I've been biking in Chicago for a while now, but, partially spurred on by Bobby and the discussions that happened with some friends, I figured it was time to sign up and say hello.

I signed up a month or so ago just to follow the local bike scene.  I commute to work by bike.  This site is a great resource.

I did a Google search to compare some gear and the site popped up in the results.  I've been biking for a long time, but it never really occurred to me to join a forum before.  So far, I'm liking it.
