Well, I could. Just not so sure about riding it on busy roadways out in the burbs. I did think about trying to getting it on Metra. They don't say anything about no trikes allowed, only recombents. Or, I could where a old gray wig that I have and look like a crazy grandma. That actually might be fun!

In McHenry hop on the Prarie Trail to
The Fox River Trail to
The Prarie Path which ends in Hillside.

I got you 90% home on dedicated bike paths, the rest is up to you!

(If you take Washington in from Hillside I think there is a Bike lane for much of it...) :)

Thanks guys, but by looking at the pictures this guy sent me, it looks like it's been sitting for quite a while. Overall it looks like it's in really good shape. Just needs a little luv'n. I was actually thinking about getting a zipcar (truck) if I had to but the guy selling it just told me he would deliver it to me for $30, which is still a bit cheaper then it would cost me to get a ziptruck, yay!

He said it's been sitting for 6 years and all it needs are new tubes in the rear tires. So, I think I'll take him up on his offer to deliver it to me.

Yeah, I know. Forgive me for not wanting to ride 50 miles home "on suburban highways and glass-strewn paths on a single-speed trike on a balmy February day." ;)

Perhaps you could bring a set of tubes with you and some kind of internally geared hub...

I have not been on the Prairie Path since last summer, but over the years I've put a lot of miles in on it . I almost never see any glass on it. And as Amber notes it is way more than 15 miles.

As for the single speed crack, I did my longest FG ride so far last weekend - a bit over 40 miles. It was fun and not once did I long for gearing. (our flat city and burbs help of course)

But if this were me in this case, I'd spend the $30 to get the thing delivered.

I think the guy has a couple of new tubes he's going to give me for it. If it was like May or June, I'd definitely consider riding it home just for the adventure of it.

Thanks Joe, but I'm just going to let the guy deliver it to me. Much easier and less time consuming then driving all the way to McHenry and back!
