Headlight Giveaway!! Volunteer to protect cyclists!!
Yes, I 'double dipped' by posting in events AND forum. I find myself often looking at one and not the other, so perhaps I cought you this time!!
I'll spare the introduction and invite you to contact me to volunteer for tomorrow night's very cool giveaway.... THANKS!
Calling all volunteers!!
This Thursday, we will be giving away headlights at a downtown location!!
As you may know, we are able to stage a headlight giveaway campaign due to a donation from member Jim Freeman. Thank you to all the volunteers who have shown interest in this program as the planning has grown and changed!
We have goody bags all ready to go (information card, membership envelope, and red reflector tape) thanks to Monday volunteers!
If you are interested and able to volunteer, please read the info below. Also, I encourage you to forward this message to other volunteers who may be interested!
Duties include:
* Engage cyclists in a short discussion
-safety
-the law
-this is a donation
-the Active Transportation Alliance (who we are and why this is important) - join us!!
* Install lights on site
-this does require dexterity (can't be done in mittens!)
-this does not require tools
* Be on location from 5:15pm to 7:15pm
-if we told you exactly where it was, it would ruin the surprise!!
-but we have to give you a little, so it is somewhere near the Chicago brown line stop
Cool stuff about this job:
You are protecting and informing cyclists! You get to give away free stuff! You might just save someone's life (or at least a few of their bones!)
Not so cool stuff:
It can be cold and/or wet outside and you need to use your hands (we might have some handwarmers - just ask). Some folks may not want to stop and listen. Even if it's not too cold, it can be after two hours, so please dress accordingly!
