Groupon Update! People have been asking me how much was raised for bicycle advocacy/bike lanes in Chicago in Bobby Cann's honor. The amount is so much more than they expected that Active Trans is going to discuss with the family how else to honor Bobby with the leftover funds.

In total there were 3,360 $10 donations made. That plus the $10,000 matching donation means that the campaign raised $43,600 for protected bike lanes in Chicago.

I'm truly blown away by the outpour of love, kind words and donations. On behalf of Bobby's friends, family and the rest of the Chicago cycling community: thank you to everyone from the bottom of our hearts. xo

The circumstances of Bobby Cann's death, combined with the proceeds going to a reputable and well respected not-for-profit made this a no-brainer for me.

I am glad to see the results exceeded your expectations.

I must have missed the original post.  Where can I donate?  There's something on the Groupon site, but it's closed.

There will certainly be more benefits for Bobby. Check back here or DNAInfo Chicago for more.

Or you can donate directly to Active Trans in honor of Bobby Cann.

Amazing. Great job to all involved especially those at Groupon and ActiveTrans.

We are deeply saddened by Bobby's death and will do our best to focus on the positive, especially through this wonderful Groupon campaign that is supporting our Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign work in honor of Bobby. Thank you sincerely to everyone who contributed.

Sincerely,

Ethan Spotts, Active Trans
