The Chainlink

I'm looking to somehow ride my bike from Little Village all the way to the north/west suburbs like Elgin. I have been riding in the salt creek trail and I love it...well except for the last portion that travels down York rd. I looked up the great western trail and it has crushed stone...what exactly is crushed stone and would be road bike friendly?

It is a road bike friendly path of crushed limestone. Just make sure you check your drivetrain after riding on it as too much dust can start to damage your components.
I will definitely check it out once this rain leaves our forecast. Thanks though for all the details I appreciate it.
