How would you make Chicago streets safer for bicyclists, drivers?

Just a week after Chicago was rated as the best city for biking in the United States by Bicycling magazine, a cyclist was struck and killed by a commercial truck at a North Side intersection during the morning rush hour. Anastasia Kondrasheva, 23, was the sixth person killed while cycling in Chicago this year.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been an avid champion of programs that encourage more bicycle commuting — including Chicago's 3-year-old Divvy bike-share system and the installation of more than 100 miles of new bike lanes. A Chicago Department of Transportation report, "Chicago Streets for Cycling Plan 2020," sums up City Hall's strategy.
