I'm doing a '27 miles for 27 years' birthday celebration next Friday, and I would just love it if I could do the ride on a tandem. Anyone know where I could purchase one (or rent, if all else fails)? Any words of wisdom are much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ranelle

Village Sport Cycle in Elk Grove Village rents tandems.  They have an excellent assortment and prices are reasonable to rent for a week or day...  Talk with Vince....

Might want to check with Bobby's bike hike & bike & roll are the 2 bike rental agency. Doliquids.com might
Have something also

Thanks for the tips!

If all else fails, I'd like to build my own tandem. What type of frame should I be seeking? Thoughts anyone?

Who is going to ride with you is my question. I'm too much of control freak for those things. I'll see you Friday!

I have Burley Rock and Roll mountain bike tandem you can borrow for the day for a six pack of really good brew

I do plan on selling it this spring with a step up (for kids) and a yakima car top carrier. My kids are on their own bikes now and my wife say's "you'll never get me on that thing..."

Really?!? Do you live close to the East Village neighborhood? I'd love to try it out!
