Pretty sweet  rack. Can you use it in the winter too and if so how do they feel about salt and water on that nice wooden floor?

The bike room in my office building consistently fills when the weather is nice. It's a good motivator to get out and going as early as I can swing it, since I know if I get there after 8 or so there will be slim pickin's. Mostly regulars, as far as I can tell - I recognize a lot of the bikes by now, though I rarely see their owners.

That whole area is bad. I took my car for service on Rand Road in Arlington Hts. I figured I would go for a ride while the car was being serviced. Rand Road is horrible and there isn't even a sidewalk to use. It's probably a state road and that is why it's not cycle friendly.

Where I work there is construction and it's pretty difficult to get around it as a pedestrian or cyclist, because the crosswalks are non-existent at the moment. The sidewalk ends about 10 feet before the road.  You would think they would require access during construction, but that must not be in the rules.

It's really too bad, because we have people who would like to ride, but aren't comfortable riding with 45 mph traffic.

My company is in Mt. Prospect.  We have about 30 people in this office.  Several colleagues ride bikes for recreation, and live within a mile or two of the office, but would never consider biking to work because they are intimidated by the busy streets in the area (Rand Rd., Northwest Hwy., Golf Rd., etc.).  So everybody drives to work all the time (and some drive to the health club at noon), except me.  I do bike/Metra when my schedule and the weather permit.  But that means I still drive most of the time :-(

At least when I get home I am in a bikeable/walkable place and can leave the car parked for everything except going to work.

I'm seeing 4 or 5 commuters in our office's bike room compared to 1 (me!) over the winter

How often does your front wheel go out of true for using this rack?

If spoke tension is correct, it should have no effect on the front wheel. Remember, you are unlikely to hang the bike from the same spot on the wheel each time.

I haven't had that problem as far as I know.
