Click "Judicial Evaluations and Results" on the left and download and print the .pdf.  Bring it to the poll with you.

We always hear about those crazy judges who have no pants under their robes and/or have spectacular flatulence problems or get away with years of overt sexual harassment, etc. -- here's a handy way to let 12 bar associations alert you to the losers.

Similar resources appreciated.  I know I need to vote for Quinn and against Stroger but I've had a heck of a time caring about anyone else this time around.

Thank you. great info to pass along.
Nice link Howie - thanks!
Great resource. My hobby horse this year is Hoffman over Giannoulias, as Hoffman is, like, qualified and not ridiculously corrupt. But the only point in a vote there is moral righteousness—Obama's basketball buddy has it locked up.

The Green Party really needs to start running candidates for Springfield. Kind of depressing that they're bothering in elections they have no chance in whereas they could just conceivably grab a state senate seat or two with a well-organized push. (Yes I should probably get involved myself rather than grousing on the Internet about it.)
Is there going to be a third party for any of the positions voted?

I was leaning toward Cheryle Jackson until I saw the three of them on Chicago Tonight. She came out AGAINST gay marriage. No one gets my vote in the primary who is openly against basic civil rights.

I was then leaning toward Hoffman until he came out as abundantly pro-Israel. Now I find myself in the curious position where I'll be abstaining from voting for a democratic senator in the upcoming primary. Perhaps I'll write someone in. Who is the Illinois equivalent of Al Franken? Does one have to be born in the USA to be a senator? If not I think I'll write in John Langford.

Yes! It is currently a pipe-dream given the current machine, but I'd like to see the Green Party go for local offices such as the city council. And yes, actual involvement is better than internet grousing, but we have to start somewhere.
Confused about the green/ 3rd party comments.
Google "Chicago election sample ballot", enter your last name and address, and choose the Green ballot to see the candidates.
I agree with Howard (this feels weird to type) - Cook County Has some great judges, but there are some, um, quirky ones also - please take a moment to print this and take it to the polls. The judicial elections can have a greater direct impact on you, your community, family and friends than any other office on the ballot! If a candidate is not qualified or not recommended by a bar association, it is significant.
I think I'll write in John Langford.

Hey, Jerry "Iceman" Butler holds office, so one can hope.

As for the Greens, I know they're running a bunch of candidates but (should have made this clear) I'm grousing about my district, where they're not running candidates for state senate or state rep.
Typically what happens is that the democrats put in hours and hours challenging petition entries in order to knock any third party candidates off the ballot, in orderto preserve our god-given 2-party system.

They aren't running any in my district either this year.. During the last round of elections they had a guy running, but he was taken off the ballot after his candidacy was opposed for whatever reason.
Here's a message I just received from a well-respected community organizer I know-- may be Pilsen/ SW side specific.

Hey everyone. Tomorrow is the primary; election in Illinois, and here's my effort to influence your vote if you're voting Democratic.

As many of you know, I've been working over the past few months for Susan Kennedy Sullivan, a county-wide candidate for a Cook County Circuit Court judgeship. She is a registered nurse and an attorney who has devoted her legal career to the practice of elder law, representing the rights of older people. She also teaches law at DePaul University's College of Law as an adjunct professor. Susan is a Democrat who has been rated "qualified" for this judgeship by the Asian American Bar Assn., the Chicago Bar Assn., the Chicago Council of Laywers, the IL State Bar Assn., and the Puerto Rican Bar Assn. of IL; "recommended" by the Black Women Lawyers Assn. of Chicago, Cook County Bar Assn., the Hellenic Bar Assn., the Lesbian and Gay Bar Assn. of Chicago, and the Women's Bar Assn. of IL; and "highly recommended" by the Decalogue Society of Lawyers. Her web site is susankennedysullivanforjudge.com I think she's a good person and would be a good judge, and I ask for your vote for her.

The other vote I'll attempt to influence is for those of you choosing between Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and Joseph Mario Moreno for Cook County Commissioner, representing the near southwest side. Chuy Garcia is a former state senator, forced out as I understand it by HDO, the Daley patronage (offering city jobs in exchange for political support) organization whose leaders were indicted for corruption a few years ago. For the last decade or more he's been head of Enlace Chicago (formerly the Little Village Community Development Corporation), working outside the political system to help his neighborhood. I met him once in that capacity, was impressed, and note from the LVCDC web site that others were too: they won awards for their work from the Chicago Council on Urban Affairs, the Chicago Community Trust, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, and others.

His opponent, the incumbent Joseph Mario Moreno, is part of Todd Stroger's crew who raised Cook County's sales tax to be the highest in the country. The Chicago Tribune (Jan. 17, 2010) described him as "a patronage-loving ally of Todd Stroger and Chicago ward bosses"; his brother and sister both magically got $85,000+ county jobs, and Fox Chicago once filmed his brother asleep while on the "job." I've never met him, but he seems to me like the kind of guy that just makes me disgusted with local government here. Chuy Garcia, on the other hand, seems well-respected by those who seem to have some integrity - he's been endorsed by US Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Luis Gutierrez, and Danny Davis, Cook County Commissioners Forrest Claypool and Larry Suffredin, and others.

Happy voting, and thanks for reading! - Mark

Got it--unconfused now. Same in mine . . . lots of blanks.
Nothing like snow on an election day to prove that this city can work if it wants to:
6:30 am and the sidestreets in my neighborhood were salted
