FOR SALE: 1970s Schwinn Le Tour III Road Bike Pearl Orange

I volunteer for Community Threads, a non-profit resale shop in Arlington Heights. We recently received a donation of a 1970s Schwinn Le Tour III Road Bike, in excellent mostly original condition, and are selling it on eBay for local pick-up.

Description:

Japanese-made, 1970s SCHWINN PEARL ORANGE LE TOUR lll 10 Speed Road Touring Bicycle in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. This bike looks like it has been in a time capsule for the past 40 years. It appears to be nearly all original parts (quick release axles are Shimano, the seat looks too good to be original, and the pedals also look like replacements). Even the tires look original. This model is listed in the 1978 Schwinn catalog, and there is some indication Schwinn only made the Le Tour III one year.

This bike was either lovingly cared for until it was retired, or was almost never ridden. The frame is in outstanding condition - the paint is in incredibly good condition, with very few scrapes or scratches. The decals are likewise in great condition. Chrome metal parts show a little corrosion, and the entire bike has a fair amount of accummulated dust and grime from storage, but as a few of the photos show, this bike will clean up well. The bike has not been ridden while in our possession, so condition of gears, brakes, tires is unknown.

Measurements: 54mm C-T men's frame with 27" wheels.

Beautiful! Love that orange. I'm not saying I wish I was smaller, perhaps I just wish the frame was larger? :)

The 1970s Japanese Schwinns are really great bikes. Someone should buy this bike and enjoy it! Or hang it in your bar or restaurant as a museum piece.
