Great news-- if you have a smart phone, now there's a way to get to the place you're going on foot.

I think this is great. My android does this already. A non-lost driver is a better & safer driver.
I'm not sure about iApple but I'm pretty sure if you paid extra you could get this service directly through a special AT$T app -but the standard map app was not allowed to do turn-by-turn (driving/walking/riding) by decree of Steve so that the AT$T paid service would get more money. At least it was true when I still had one of those infernal devices (3g old phone) I think maybe Siri does something like this.
The only time I need help is when I'm in the loop. That place gets confusing to me and with all the traffic I spend more clock cycles trying not to get run over and like not having to waste any on navigating. I'm a country boy and need more curvy roads with stuff that is recognizable. The grid all looks the same to me -ugly high-rise buildings all on squares. I never know which way I"m going or where I am. Having the phone tell me which way to go helps -even if I don't follow the directions exactly if I don't like the look of the road for biking. It'll re-calculate the route for me and keep track of the new route (over and over again if need be) -that's all I ask for.
Since it can do it all by voice commands in my shirt pocket I can keep my eyes on traffic and live to post again online later.
