I know this is a longshot...
I'm on a quest to learn how to make the perfect Margarita and received a tip for Damiana Liqueur as a "special ingredient."
I can't find any evidence that it's sold here anywhere. Pored through the entire Sam's site . . . looked in a few neighborhood places with better than average variety of Mexican liquors. None of the online sources ship to Illinois.

There's a restaurant in Logan Square called Maza Azul. They're likely to know as they specialize in tequila. I've only been there twice, but think I saw that distinctive bottle on their shelves. The bartenders...er...excuse me, "mixologists," who run the bar are pretty awesome.
I wonder if they have Hum too? My wife is still wanting to try that straight ever since she tried a drink mixed at Logan Square Kitchen with it in it.

They have Hum @ Maza Azul. (And, I'm pretty sure you can buy it at Binny's.) It's a featured item in a few of their drinks. In short, the food is pretty okay, but the drinks are outrageous. Go on a weeknight and eat appetizers at the bar. They're just as good as the main dishes that are twice as expensive as the starters.
Here's another thing that they have at Maza Azul that is really great. If your wife likes Hum, she will probably like El Corazon. BTW James, it was nice meeting you both that night at LSK.
That sounds pretty yummy. My wife is such a non-drinker. I don't what it was about the hum that made her so interested in trying it straight. Maybe because it is a new taste and she wants to nail it down in her head.
I know what it is about Damiana that makes me want to own the bottle at least. It reminds me of the Andean Mountain Goddess. They had some pretty neat bottles in Peru when we were there for some of their weird alcohols.
My buddy helped create Hum and it's still pretty easy to find in specialty chicago stores and bars. Heck, I saw it at the airport in Minneapolis last night.
I find it too spicy to have on the rocks - there's ginger and hibiscus in it.

My wife brews her own ginger-extract juice and uses to put in her drinking water. That's probably why she liked the hum.
You could try Fine Wine Brokers in lincoln square. If they don't have it, they will look for you.
