So what is it that makes you stare a bit too long while riding?

It could be bike porn, a cute blond, a car, cool architecture...

Mine is easy - Dogs. Puppies are the worst, I have almost crashed a couple of times over those cute 4 legged furry creatures.

I know exactly who you are talking about. I used to see him all the time a while back. Then, I saw him again this morning and it made me smile to know that the world doesn't change....

The skinny, old dude that comes out on North Avenue Beach wearing a floppy straw hat and a thong. Gets me every time.
Speaking of keeblers, one didn't make me crash, but I did miss my turn...

I like all sorts of bikes and ride a single-speed with a coaster brake myself but I keep finding myself hanging out with dudes on fixed gear bikes. We'll be riding and we'll stop at reds (or, rather, I'll stop at reds and they'll wait with me to be polite) and I'll enjoy the little zzzzzpp zzzzzpp zzzzzzp noise of them track standing and it's kind of hot. Hence I have developed an appreciation for the humble track stand.

I was riding from a friend's house in Logan Square to work for the first time (yay sleepovers!) and I was booking it down Milwaukee trying not to be late and looking for my turn.

At a stop light, I saw a cute keebler on an avocado green fixie doing the world's most intense track stand. Motherfucker wasn't moving at ALL. He was like a statue, staring intently at his front wheel, and as I stared at him I could detect just the slightest tremor in his fingers. It was the only betrayal that what he was doing took any effort at all.

And of course, when the light flicks green, he takes off and so do I, totally oblivious to the fact that that was my turn for work. I was hella late.

Apologies if you've heard this story (I'm looking at Archie, who likes to tease me about my fixed gear fetish). I still think about that guy. Maybe I should post a Missed Connection.

For those of you not in the know "keebler" is the new hip term for hipster. Or she could be referring to the old 70's black panther usage meaning something like fat white rich boy. Pretty sure she means the first one.
I have a big problem with these lit CTA bus advertisements. I am not disctracted by the ads, but more blinded as they fly by, especially at night.
Then I'm imagining this really gets you going...

Hahaha, YES! Those new lighted billboards on the sides of buses are ridiculously bright.

New phenomena that'll surely inspire a terrible crash, Hipster Babies!
Food. Restaurants, food stores, meat shops. If it looks like a charcuterie dealer, I am focused on it and fantasizing.
