I'm helping a friend who works for DNA, they are "looking to interview avid Divvy users that after several months or even a year, ended up buying or using a non-Divvy bike."

Did you or anyone you know get into biking in the city through Divvy that has bought a bike and you think would want to chat on record?

If so, contact:

Eddie, you're falling victim to some cager prejudice, that all Divvy riders are a disaster. I ride a Divvy twice a day, between the Metra station and a job site and I can assure you I'm not clueless. Divvy has increased mode share in Chicago faster than just about anything else could have, besides $25/gallon gasoline and has legitimized transportational cycling in the city across most of the populace. It's a good thing, not a negative.
I actually swapped my winter bike for a Divvy membership this year. Not having to clean it off is fantastic! Convenience-wise, I've almost always been able to get a bike from my first-choice station and drop it exactly where I want. The gearing leaves a bit to be desired (who uses that lowest gear??) but 2 & 3 are sufficient to maintain a reasonable pace.

Last night might've been the most interesting scenario I've witnessed yet - myself and another Divvy rider were stopped at Kinzie and LaSalle for the light. An oncoming cyclist blew the light (and it triggered the red light cam), a cyclist behind us shoaled, then also blew the light, dodging cars. Its probably a confirmation bias on my part, already being on Divvy, but I'm seeing a lot more slower/predictable behavior from folks on Divvys than cyclists on personal bikes.

I never use Divvy but agree that it's a good thing.  We all have our prejudices.  I just got shoaled by a Divvy this morning.  Dude slowly crept halfway through the intersection before the light turned green, yet he had so much trouble accelerating that I passed him before he reached the other side of the street.
