Hi Nancy, as much as I appreciate your good intentions, I am not sure if any info you provided beyond the time, location & description of the bike was necessary or useful, especially the descriptions of how the teenagers looked. I just could not pass without pointing that out.
Many thanks - I was walking to work and saw the two teenagers and things just didn't seem right. I did call the police.
I lost a bike and trailer a few years ago and even with all the Homeland Security cameras in the building, no one wanted to go through the CCTV footage, at least to know what direction the thief went.
A few weeks ago, I saw a man trying to ride a bike that was waaayyy too tall for him; the man kept losing the pedals on the down stroke. I talked to a beat officer, but he said there was nothing to be done, unless I was the bike owner and wanted to make a report.
In Jane Jacob's book, The Death and Rebirth of the Great American City, she mentions the importance of "eyes on the street".

Sorry I probably shouldn't have posted that.
It's just me lamenting about how one can't post anything discriptive about bi-peds when one see's/experiences something that doesn't seem right without offending another.
