The Chainlink

While walking home late Friday night I saw a bike parked at a bank behind the dumpsters near my building not locked up. The next morning I was taking my dog out and the bike was still there. It looked like someone maybe stole the bike and put it there for safe keeping. I took the bike up to my place and decided I would put ads up all over the place to try to find the real owner of this bike. I duct taped a note at the location where I found the bike and I got in touch with the CPD to see if it was registered (it was not).

If you lost your bike this past Friday, e-mail me with the make, color, and type of pedals. I'd prefer if you sent me a picture of you and your bike so I can make sure it gets back into the hands of it's rightful owner.  If it's yours I would be more than happy to return it.

P.S. I took the liberty of trueing the tires, adjusted the brakes, and gave it a good clean and lube.

P.P.S. The bike is not for sale.

I also posted it to C/L & Reddit in hopes that someone see's it. If you know of any other Chicago message boards, please post the following link there or tell them to get in touch with me here on Chainlink.

I'm not sure about the rest of the story but this deserves a hearty +1!

I dare you to post in r/aww, because that is how I felt reading this. :)

I would love the "victim gets bike back in better shape" story as much as I hate hate hate those awful "bike theft victim steals own bike back" stories.

+2!
