The Chainlink

Hi all -

On my commute to work, I realized a section of Elston that we redone last year (South of Division) is torn up again. Any clue on why it's being redone?

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing when I came across this on the commute home yesterday. Asphalt, labor, and striping must be dirt cheap if they can afford to do it 2x in 12 months.

I also noticed this and was wondering the same thing.

Katie - often it is utility work that is not coordinated well with other work.

for example : when I lived in the burbs they totally rebuilt main street in Lombard;

then 1 year later they ripped it up again to install fancy gaslight style lamps. Then AT&T

ripped up large sections replacing cable. when

the residents complained that it was a total waste of money (and inconvenience since a 4 lane

street was reduced to 2) the response was that the the timing of the grant money and utility repairs cannot be coordinated.

Peoples Gas did some work prior to this latest resurfacing.  Mains look like they were upgraded.  PG has the property on the West side of the street, South of Division.

If the word people is already plural why do we have Peoples Gas?  Cause People Gas, just sounds funny?

Missing the apostrophy to indicate possesion.
