suit at 4:30 today.
thanks in advance

The new suit that I had tailored for me last year has cuffs.
I got a new suit 2 months ago and I got cuffs. I like them. Do you plan to wear the suit after the wedding? to work? what's the dress code there?
Cuffs look more formal than a straight leg. But later on, you can have cuffs altered to no-cuffs. The other way around won't work.
I wear suits frequently, and recently purchased some new custom suits. FWIW, my tailor believes that if pants (whether with a suit or not) do not have pleats, they should not have cuffs.
I agree with Joe's tailor. That having been said, cuffs or no cuffs are both acceptable these days. I have both (though more with cuffs than without).
It also depends on the cut of the suit--if you're going with a slimmer cut a plain pant leg will help streamline. But if you're going boxy, cuffs are better paired with a roomier cut. Just my personal opinion though.
Does that mean that half of your suits have pleats too?

I've always heard that taller men should wear suits with cuffs and shorter men should wear a straight leg. So given your average height I have no useful advice, either is fine. Although I'm also inclined to agree with Joe's tailor. To add another data point, half of my suits have cuffs.
Just have to add one woman's perspective. :-) My husband is about 6', but he has relatively short legs. I think he looks better with a straight leg. So maybe not so much height, but inseam!

Can anyone recommend an expert tailor to shorten suit jacket sleeves? Prefer one in the Edgewater or Lincoln Square area, but west side of the loop is acceptable too.
This won't help at all Duppie, but I've looked in Lincoln Square and haven't really found one yet. Please someone answer the question!
thanks folks for the great advice. it was all well received. I went with NO CUFFS and my tailor approved.
NOW : As a reward to this great community; I would like to invite two people (we just had a 2 people cancel) to join my friend Ralph Bassett and I tomorrow to go sailing from Montrose Harbor. He has a 26' Cruising (monohull) sailboat. Text me at 312 351 four zero 5 2 if you can make it. We meet at Montrose Harbor
(612 W. Montrose) around 10am and sail till about 2-3 p.m. Only thing you really need to bring is whatever food and drinks you want. We have sunscreen, Bonine. etc. We really like to have at least three people (currently it's just Ralph and I. My GF usually works saturdays).
Jos A. Banks in the Ogilvie train station has a decent tailor.
