We express our anger, frustration and other negative feelings and emotions quite often here.

How about something less . . . depressing, perhaps?

Here's a conversation with a girl on a rented bike I had on my way to work this morning:

Me: Did you just lose your purse back there? (I saw the thing laying on the LFT at the entrance of the bridge over the River, but, as I wasn't sure who dropped it, I didn't stop to pick it up.)

Her (smiling broadly): Oh, I'm just by myself today!

Me: No, no, you purse, with a water bottle!

Her (noticing the hanging wide-open and empty handlebar bag in front of her): Oh! . . .

Any funny stories?

I was riding in today on Kinzie when I hit a bump and my rack w/ milk crate fell back and I started dragging it. I'm not sure if I'm a victim of a joke or if I just didn't tighten those seat post bolts enough earlier this week, but It must have looked pretty funny to the girl behind me.

I was unlocking after stopping at Dominick's on Chicago @ Damen and witnessed another cyclist who just unlocked, mount up and started to ride towards the parking lot. She pretty much ran over a horde of frat boys that happened to be walking down the sidewalk, more liked just held her line on the right edge of the sidewalk and they scattered.

Guy from group, "Get off the street!"... moment of pause, "I mean. Get on the street!  Damn bikers."

Maybe not the most amusing story, but their looks of indignation were.

ps.  I'd agree the biker chick was doing it wrong and should really have yielded to the pedestrians, but still their confusion as to what derisive comment to use was comical.

Happens to me a lot. ESL :)

Headed east on Kinzie PM commute.  As I approach Franklin a car is about to turn north so I wait at the stop sign.  This is a bunch of young kids and a few adults (1st grade school trip or something?) waiting to cross over Franklin to head west on the North side of Kinzie.  The car completes his turn.  I clip in and start to cross the intersection when a second car shoots the gap and makes a similar turn north only between the pack of kids already crossing west and me heading east.  I gave that second driver a good solid, long, thumbs up as he sped away.  One the chaperons had a look of terror on their face that read, "Did that cyclist just fip the bird in front of all my young preciouses" which turned into a quizzical look as he followed my arm and the digit I was holding dawned.

The confused look of people not knowing what offends their sensibilities more amuses me.
