cleaning sand off

I was on the lakefront on saturday during the evening storm, got a bunch of sand all over the bike and the drivetrain was making slightly grindy noises. Do I need to completely strip/relube my chain or what would you guys recommend?

I had this same problem once. Used the park cleaning thingamabob but still had the gritty noises. I had to remove the crank and go at it on the chainrings with a brush and a rag to get it all off. I also took care of the rear derailleur and the area under the bottom bracket where the cables route through. I am a bit anal about it, but I couldn't stand that grinding sound and thinking what it was doing to my "gruppo"..
