I have been an avid city biker at times and at times forget my bike all together.  Last year I was in Colorado and rented a fuji mountain bik, rode all over downtown and up and down minor hills and absolutely loved it.  I want to go back to being an avid rider and I think I want a fuji mountain or if I found a really good bike that works for me...because in my mind that is key.  I am unsure what type of mountain bike the fuji and I am trying tp purchase a house so don't want to go will on the costs.  I am looking for recommendations on where to buy and models.  Thank You

I AM OPEN TO PURCHASING SUGGESTIONS, TRAIL SUggestions, getting started suggestions

If cost is your main issue, try a used refurbished bike from one of the several bike rescue co-ops in Chicago: the Recyclery, Blackstone, West Town or Working Bikes.  If you're looking for a new bike, start with the closest bike shop to your home or workplace, because that way you can start to build a relationship with a shop that will be very easy to frequent.  If the closest shop doesn't seem to be a fit for you, go to the next closest one and move outward.  You could buy a bike from a shop that isn't conveniently located, but that becomes a pain when you want to get accessories, advice or work done on your bike.

Quick Release bike shop is nearby on Ashland. It's a small shop, but run by a level headed guy who knows his stuff. I believe he sells new and used bikes. Prices are more affordable than what you'll find at other local bike shops
