Ok. A rant session.

First of all. Palatine is not Chicago. It's a far north west suburb of Chicago.

Second. It's the first cycling anything that I've seen that has a directions page that gives only driving directions. Not even Metra. FREE PARKING! Yay!

So, my guess is that it's all roadie stuff, right?

Thanks for letting me rant.

Looks like there is no Pace bus service to Harper on Saturday. Closest you can get via public transit seems to be the Palatine Metra station (on the Union Pacific/Northwest line), which is about 3.5 miles from Harper College.
Welcome to NW Suburbia, some of the most bike-unfriendly territory in Illinois.

Pace is nearly useless. Even during the week, service to Harper is limited.

Good points: it's a big meetup & i've scored a couple of bargains there as well as met some old friends i hadn't seen in years.

Worth the trip if you can make it. What's wrong with "roadie stuff" anyway?
Ok. The roadie stuff was just a jab. :)
As much as I empathize with the non-drivers of the group, this really is a better location than the old location.

The Harper space provides more much needed space than the old country club location did.
Being north of Elgin, I wouldn't consider Palatine a 'far' NW burb.
I went out there last year with a friend of mine and I was amazed at some of the deals we got. For me it was worth it! The tough part is that it’s a lot to carry around, we had to go out to my car to drop things off. I’m not sure how we would have gotten everything home using public transportation.

This year I’m taking a carload of people out there with me, so the new challenge will be how much stuff we can jam into my little car without leaving anyone behind. Should be fun!
Bump.

This Saturday.
Definitely thinking about checking this out. I might try to find a good deal on a cycle for my girlfriend to try to get her hooked this year.
Metra train to Palatine, then a cab over to Harper?

Or drive out, exit on Roselle Rd. Go north over Algonquin and turn right into the college. You should be able to find it then.

Or Google?

I volunteered to go to table for active trans but I have no idea how to get out there.
Any clues?
I wouldn't mind if you rode along with us, but we don't plan on getting there until around 11 or so. Also, we probably won't stay until its over, so I don't know if you'd take a chance on getting stranded out there. I guess I'm not much help, sorry.
