Hi everyone! I'm planning on riding to St Louis by following the Route 66 Trail (http://www.bikelib.org/route66/). Does anyone who's done this ride have any tips on places to stay / things to do or any general advice? Thanks!

We did Springfield to Joliet earlier this year. We took 4 days @ under 60 miles a day.
The little towns along the way were nice. A number of them have restored route 66 sites. With a little planning ahead you can find nice lunchplaces. In the overnight towns we stayed in motels and cheap hotels. We payed about 70 dollars a night. The trail maps do a nice job of keeping you of old highway 66, instead taking you over lightly travelled backroads, while still visiting every town along the way. Remember, this is Illinois, so the landscape is of a sleep-inducing monotonous nature.
The part between Springfield and Bloomington was somewhat more interesting with a few rollers and more trees.
