My understanding is that most bike shops are not hugely profitable, and even when nothing walks, it's financially very tough to stock a decent selection of accessories-- so especially painful to think of all this shrinkage.

Unfortunately, it's probably only a matter of time until they're back out there doing the same, or similar.
