Hey folks! Our small group had a great time - seriously - on the ride to Madison. Some of us partied too hard...New Glarius Spotted Cow beer is not to be taken lightly. More than 6 and you're toast.........

I finished up my ride on the terrace at the UW student union with a tall cold glass of draft Capital City Brewery Seasonal Ale while I was waiting for the Van Galder bus....unfortunately I think I actually gained 5 pounds on the trip due to all the restaurants and beer!

Still waiting on my friend's photos, which really encompass the party. Kenosha and Racine were stunning and scenic trails to ride, my friends - what a difference from the on-street route!

Naturally I'm getting all nostalgic - - -

Who's with me?!?!

This is NOT the direct route to Madison, nor is it intended to be (you will actually go into Madison from the southwest!). This is the scenic route. I estimate it to be ~130 miles. Obviously, this could be done easily over two days, and one day for a hardcore rider, but realize:

The first weekend train arrives in Harvard at 10:20 AM.
The last bus out of Madison is 6:30 PM.
Finally, technology allows me to publicly share the full Chicago - Milwaukee - Madison trail bike route without any strings attached. Open the attached file in Google Earth.

Much thanks to all the state and local governments who made it possible for me to put this together. Plenty of fun along the way including restaurants in Caledonia/Waukesha/etc., Cool Waters waterpark in Milwaukee, the Dousman bike shop, bowling/billiards in Rome, Aztalan State Park, and naturally the sights in Madison. The route terminates at the Middleton Staybridge Suites (with jacuzzi/pool/free laundry/free buffet breakfast/personal kitchen&separate bedroom) next to the huge and magnificent Capital City Brewery beer garden.

Let me know if you have trouble opening the file. Much thanks to envane x for giving me the idea to post the route in a kml file. His route to New Glarius and Madison is also in a kml...but whether or not he's ready to post it is his deal....maybe after we're done with his tour?

Attached is the long way to Madison, and also an 82 mile route to Madison. I've no guarantees on the 82 mile route, but it is exclusively on low-volume country roads and misses every town long the way.
