Chicago Bicycle Program officially announces new training video

I'm posting this on behalf of the CDOT Bike Program*:

"CDOT Bike Program recently partnered with CTA to create a training video for both bus operators and bicyclists about how to safely share the road. We urge all of Chicago’s cyclists to watch the program and to ride defensively on city streets.

Check it out and help us spread the word by sharing it with your friends."

Timely . . .

Great work, Steve. I like the way the tone is set describing the similarities between buses and bicycles at the beginning. How/when would current operators see this video? Do they have to sit in a classroom a certain number of hours each month/year?

Some things I'd like to see added to a future version based on situations I've observed and experienced:

"Operators: honking your horn can startle a cyclist off of their bike. Never honk at a cyclist in front of your bus."

"Operators: You've heard in this video that cyclists are reminded to exit through the front door.
Please refrain from aggressively trying to force a customer with a bike on your rack to the rear of the bus when your bus gets crowded."
