A rather timely article, Sir Aaron; especially since I find myself commuting more often from Oak Park. For me, the issue isn't so much about the length of the commute but the safety as I have to traverse Austin. In fact, if any Oak Parkers are following this they can tell you that the safety issue tends to dominate online discussions out there.
