Its not a rumor. 

Oh, this sucks. I am so sad, Chainlinkers!! Esp. sad for Julie and Working Bikes and everyone who put this together. Boo.

Not to be a buzzkill but, did it really not occur to anyone to get a permit? They're $35. 

I don't think that buzzkill is the word I would use to describe that comment.

They really regulate everything to the max here in Chicago.  Maybe if they had less regulations they might have more jobs for people.

It was not the police, but the The Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection. 

Was Working Bikes able to reopen this morning or are they now in trouble with the city?

They are open. It was just last night.

Good.  At least we don't have to start up a Working Bikes Legal Defense Fund.  So sorry about the party shut down last night.  The city can be harsh and mean sometimes.

What word would you use?  You plan a party, invite a few hundred, collect an admission and get a permit.  No permit, no party.  No party, no buzz.

We thought we had our bases covered and are totally sorry this happened. We are quite bummed.....
