Apparently the temporary closing of the 405 has started some people thinking differently.

Think of how annoying it is to get from the Schaumburg to Bridgeport via public transportation. That about describes what it is like to take public transit in LA. What is a 40-60 minute car ride becomes a 2 hour journey with 4 different transfers covering 3 different transit agencies.
The existing light rail routes do not go the places that people want to go. Taking light rail usually involves at least 1 bus at each end of the trip. There are separate city and county bus systems, many running redundant or just slightly different routes and there is no information on how to transfer between 2 different systems. And none of the maps show all of the various bus routes.
Maybe now that they realize how much better it could be if fewer people drove some other changes will be made.
