I would love for people to post pictures of their battle wounds. I just had a slippery spill on the metal grate bridge on Harrison at Franklin on Thursday. Here are a couple photos of the results.

Sh*t, going down on a bridge is pretty much my worse fear while riding/commuting in Chicago in the rain. I've had my road bike with 700 x 28 tires go squirrelly on me more than a few time while crossing the metal bridges on Kinzie and Randolph when wet. I'll probably have nightmares now based on that pic. Rest up, and good luck with the healing.
Speed bump... D'oh!

Hey, Gentleman Ghost, we could've been twins!

Also two capped and canalled teeth, coutesy of a wet and oily corner on South Blvd several years ago-the reason i gave up on Specialized Nimbus tyres...

Both wrecks on my old PX-10.

Mmmmmmmm… Gore.

A few years ago I was run over by a car. Mid '70's Ford LTD - 4,800 lb monster. Hit and run, never caught.

I was thrown into the air, landed on the hood, guy hit the brakes and stopped hard to throw me in front of the car. After a few seconds he floored it, dragged me for about 50 feet (while I was holding the front corner of the car) until my pant leg got caught by the left front wheel, and I was dragged under. Front wheel got the pelvis, left ribs and left arm, rear wheel got left foot, ankle and knee. I came away with only broken ribs, a cracked sternum, bruised organs, leaky lymph system, and many scrapes and bruises.

After eight days in the Cedars Sinai trauma unit, and three days rest at home I was back on the bike, very much against doctors' orders.
omg. scary shit .
glad you were relatively ok

I have taken 4 spills in my life time.however,my body has this
natural reaction to throwing my arms out front before I hit the ground, thus
bracing my fall and lessening the impact of said fall.....I have
never broken anything on my body.

I took a huge spill on Michigan ave in front of a huge traffic
rush once. I was coming around a bus fast ass he'll, but unfortunately
you can't see through a bus and know what is on the other side.a fucking cab was illegally
parked. I was on a fixie with a break on the front wheel. My reaction
to everything caused me to resist the wheel with my feet and push the
brake lever, literally jackknifing my bike and falling off of it....if that would have
happened in the middle of the street ,I would have been dead..period.

But that was when I first got the fixie and I was acting like a
fool.
Wow do I feel lucky. Iv gotten into a fair amount of accidents with and without cars/SUV's but Iv always walked away with no more then some small cuts, bruises an some minor head trauma (no helmet). no pictures :-/

I'd hold those badges up with pride if I were you though :-)
