whats the average life span of a bottom bracket?

 

variables:

-sealed

-daily rider

-6 mile commute plus whatever other random rides (avg 100 miles per week)

-fixed gear

-48/15 ratio

SKF bottom bracket - 10yrs; 65,000 miles warranty! Including bearings!

 

Others can make it 10-15k miles or much more, all depending on how much salt and water get past the seals in the bearings.  External bottom brackets typically last longer than square taper due to less stress on the bearings.
