  • Show local merchants that bikes mean business
  • Post-ride meetup at The Celtic Knot

All are welcome! Whose Streets?... Shared Streets!

EVANSTON BIKE BANNING?

The city of Evanston continues to entertain the possibility of banning bikes along certain corridors, especially in business districts:
  • What demand or evidence supports bike banning in those districts?
  • Banning bikes will hurt local businesses.
  • This deterrent would create yet another impediment to getting more people on bicycles.
  • Even with so-called "comfortable corridors", we will see no net gain in bicycle ridership.
  • Without more bicyclists on the roads, the meager infrastructure that currently exists will never be fully utilized and expanded.
  • This is counter to the city of Evanston's adopted goal of 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2016.
Action Items:

Took the survey. Been riding out to Evanston more often this spring since Temperance opened their doors!
