Bike to Work Day SF/green bike lane

Nice little article but what I want to know more about is the green separated bike lane. I read so much conflicting information about separated lanes. I can envision times when it might be a great thing but other times it seems like a potential nightmare. Thoughts, anyone?

I like the barrier they are using in that photo-- not as limiting as a full curb, but prevents drivers from stopping in the bike lane.

Dang. I thought I had it pretty good out here in the SW burbs. I love the green lanes -- really lets the four-wheelers know that they're not allowed. I'll show this to the Naperville Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Cmte ... I'll bet they go for it once the economy eases up. *If* the economy eases up.
