I recently attended an Alsip village meeting that was set just to discuss making Alsip bike friendly. Of course any where to talk bikes in the dead of winter, and nearby. They hired a contractor who specializes in this and seemed to model plans after Chicago's. With bike lanes and shared lanes. "Mileage to" signs, like street signs and paths, including one or more links to the upcoming Cal-Sag trail. Maybe this will get the neighboring towns to follow. After all, at the least they would have another reason to ask the feds for cash. We all know how politicians love money they didn't earn, to play with!
