It looked like a cyclist was killed this morning around 11am at Logan and Western by where Tyler's ghost bike is. Does anyone have any information on the crash?

I really hope the cyclist is alright as well.

This has got to be one of the worst intersections in town. Always stay on high alert whenever you ride through it in any direction.

I've even had to yell at drivers while I'm WALKING in the crosswalk with the light.

Hate that intersection. It doesn't matter which direction I'm going on Logan, it's harrowing. I hope that cyclist is okay...

Yeah, this intersection is wack.  And while I don't like the big brother aspect, if there was ever an intersection where driver behavior warranted a red light camera, it's this one.  Actually, what they need is a camera that tickets drivers who block the intersection after the light changes and they can't get through.

I've gone out of my way to avoid that intersection, even when it adds time to my ride. Carter, I think you're right--although I'd also like to see a screaming neon bike lane with an early green light for cyclists, like I used to see in Portland...

I think there are many intersections throughout the city that need "don't block the box" enforcement.  Either, cops writing tickets or cameras.  I'm not sure what Chicago's ordinances are for blocking the box (blocking the intersection), but there should be a hefty fine and enforcement.

I recently had to drive in the Loop during rush hour (picking up some gear downtown) and this was the reason for all of the gridlock I saw.  It's just terrible; I'm glad I'm not stupid enough to drive into the Loop on a regular basis (like many drivers).

I called the police.

First, 14th District. 312-744-8290

Me: "Was there a fatal bike crash at Logan and Western on Sunday morning?"
Him: "Let me find out if anyone knows…"
He talked to his watch commander, neither were aware of it.
He gave me the number to the Major Accident Investigation Unit. 312-745-4521
If there was a fatality involving any type of vehicle they would have the information.

Called MAI
"I need an RD number" but she looked up the address and the date and said, "We don't have anything logged."

It was Saturday.
True that, one of the worst spots in the city by far. I'll avoid it at all costs unless I'm riding with a crew. Western is never fun to ride in general, but over there it's just a complete mess.

Totally missed that. I'll call back with the different information.

I didn't expect them to look one day before or after, for my convenience, that's for sure.
