The Chainlink

The point of the Bicycle Photo Tag is to reproduce a similar photo of an object or place that can be found in many different locations around the world. Much like a scavenger hunt, examples include specific street signs, a railway crossing with train, yourself at a toll booth with reciept, etc.... Get creative

Rules are easy...

1. Find a SIMILAR (ie; Not The Same, Different) tag and reproduce the photo (as best as possible). Take the tag to a new location, get the photo and post it here.
2. Upon posting your new tag, the tagger is responsible for specifying what it is in the photo that must be reproduced. Be specific, but not so specific that no one else will be able to play because we couldn't find another pink school bus.
* Try to place the tags in interesting locations, objects or places that could probably be found in at least the majority of the planet.
3. Tag must be: Common amongst all human habitation. Dirt is ok, but remember most of us are on street bikes. We don't want to exclude those who don't like to get dirty (wimps).
4. The first person to post a found tag gets to place the next tag. If you get a tag, but somebody else posts their picture first, you lose (bruced).
5. One tag at a time within thread. File photos are NOT permitted. You gotta ride to play this game.
6. No whining There are plenty of folks here that will help you understand the rules
7. The holder of the tag determines if the tag has been duplicated and acknowledges it by posting on the thread. (Surrendering the Tag)
8. No Pre-Arranged Tag Handoffs / Linear Tag sequence
9. Last but not least, should the tag be soo ridiculous that no one is able to reproduce it, it can be voted down if a majority of the active participants feel necessary.

Remember, the point of this is not to win the game, or get a better picture than the guy who just "bruced" you, the point is the ride. On that note, if someone tags a post office. Rather than get out and ride a block to my local post office, I might ride an hour or so, out to the historic post office a few neighborhoods over.... Make it interesting.

So the first tag is your bike in front of a house with Xmas lights

Good tag Kevin.  Another way to honor Dan.

Hello from Washington DC,

Seems this has died out.  I am active in the DC Bike Forum - our version of the ChainLink.  I'm hoping to start a similar game of tag in the spring.  Thanks for the inspiration.

The reason I'm waiting is because we are in the middle of Freezing Saddles, our winter riding game, and I don't want tag to be a distraction from that.

Seems you have an active community that might want to try something like FS for yourselves next year.  You can learn more and follow our standings and stats at www.freezingsaddles.com as well as on the various threads on our forum.

I like the design of your forum more than ours.

Now I will quietly lurk in the corner.  Thanks for allowing me in.

As much as I like Dan, this killed ended stopped froze the thread.

Not everyone here knew Dan. Not many people that knew Dan hung out with him. Not many people that hung out with Dan knew he liked Karaoke. Not many people that knew Dan and knew he liked Karaoke hangs out in the Chainlink.

What say we get a new Tag? Kevin? Would you like to redo the tag?

I'll redo the tag, but it remains to be seen if that "reignites" interest in the game (in anyone west of Pennsylvania).

I'm trying to get the tag game going again. It's Spring and I'm finally "enjoying" riding again after a cold winter commuting where all I want is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. I didn't know Dan, but he appears to have had great friends who thought highly of him. So, in honor of Dan's love of karaoke, below is my tag of a Karaoke bar - Shoe's - that Dan may have frequented, but I have absolutely no idea. If this is a good tag, I'll post a new tag asap.

game on!

JM, thanks for re-starting us.  Eager to see your new tag.

Game on, indeed! New tag - a picture riding your bike with a sign of Spring/nice weather. I took this picture Friday morning on a lengthy detour from my commute. Some days it's just too nice and you ride right by the office. You can either take the pic on your bike (be safe!) or have someone else take it.

Thanks, JM.

Awesome!!!! The thread is back alive!

This should be an easy one. If my hand were healed, I'd ride and take a picture of spring time riding.

Come one, people, I know y'all are riding! Let me live through you while I'm healing.

Spring and nice weather are not necessarily synonymous. Here is a picture of me riding while melted snow falls from the sky. A very springtime activity. Although, 3-speed bicycles are always in season...

If approved I will submit a new tag.

seems to qualify to me.  New Tag?
