Bicycle Cup holders

Got a hankering for one last night after transporting my coffee (successfully this time) for a few blocks in my bottle cage . . . kind of surprised at the variety available.

Anyone seen any cup holders in local shops for sale?

I have a water bottle that goes in the cage dedicated to coffee ... but the quick loss of heat and difficulty in cleaning the bottle makes it undesirable to use.  Maybe its time to make one myself.

I picked up a cage that attaches to my handlebars a few years back at Uptown bikes.  I never had any trouble carrying most coffee cups in it.  I'll have it for sale at my table at the bike swap if you are interested!

I'm a big fan of this one, because it holds cups, bottles, whatever, and swings nicely so stuff doesn't spill.  I stole it from our stroller and attach it to my stem on rides when I know I will need it.

I had an Electra cup holder on my Raleigh Superbe but I don't recommend them. It didn't take much of a bump to send the coffee cup flying. I tossed it after my nice SS insulated cup bounced out and it was run over.

Now, I just sit at the bakery until I finish my coffee.

You can find non-swinging resin cages by Evo at local shops for $4.

Damn, James, that's a good idea.

I've used a 3/4" conduit clamp to make carrier for my camp stove.  I think a 1/2" would work on a handle bar. If it looks 'cobbled together' some lowlife is less likely to stroll of with it.

I had this one. I thought the swivel arm would prevent the spill (scalding BTW - ouch) issues I was having with an upright cage style one but after only 2 weeks of riding on Chicago's potholed streets the arm snapped off. I'm still on the lookout for a spill-free solution.

I'm not sure about the best holder option, but this mug has served me well over the years.  OXO Good Grips LiquiSeal Travel Mug.  $20 from Amazon.  The button toggles the seal, which holds really well -- shake it upside down well.  The only caveat is that if you go from a very warm hour to a very cold outdoors, the button gets sucked down a bit and will let it dribble.  Just toggle the seal to break the vacuum and you are set.

bumping the thread just because I'm curious if you ever got a cup holder and if so, how you like it.  I'm looking around for pretty much the same thing, something that will hold a cup of coffee for a few blocks or so.  I meant to make it to the bike swap and look for something there, but I missed it.

 

That Evo cage looks pretty interesting, but I've never seen it in local bike shops.  Has anybody used it?
