The Chainlink

From my Alderman, Ameya Pawar (47th ward.  Electronic copy of complete newsletter here.

Dear Neighbor,

I am very excited to announce that the 47th Ward will be hosting a bicycle camp for 20 children from our neighborhood! The camp will take place at Revere Park, in partnership with the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club, and will last for five days next week. The purpose of the camp is to work on developing bicycle skills and promoting important bicycle safety. The camp will culminate with a group ride to Wrigley Field and all 20 participants will go home with their very own, brand new, Schwinn bike! My office partnered with Revere Park staff and the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club to make sure these bikes went to our neighborhood kids.

As we improve our City's bicycle infrastructure, it is just as important to create a safe bicycling culture. Your feedback and suggestions help inform the development of our bicycle infrastructure and highlight the need for more bicycle safety programming - thank you.

Many thanks to the individuals and companies responsible for this extraordinary community programming:  Schwinn Bicycles, Saris Cycling Group, the SRAM Cycling Fund,  Randy Neufeld (47th Ward resident), the Chicago Department of Transportation, the City of Chicago Bicycle Ambassadors, the Chicago Park District and the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club for working with my office to make this camp happen. Thank you, thank you!

This camp is also being piloted in four other wards across the City of Chicago with the hope of eventually scaling-up efforts to include more participants city-wide.
